Consent that actually changes what gets collected
Most consent banners are theatre. The visitor clicks reject and the tags fire anyway. The Consent Engine works the other way round: the choice a visitor makes is enforced at the point measurement happens, so declining genuinely stops collection and stops signals reaching advertising platforms. It finds the trackers running on your site, including ones you did not know about, presents them in a banner and preference centre you control, and keeps a record of what each visitor agreed to and when.

What data moves, and which way
- Read from your site: every script, cookie and tracker found, categorised so you can see what is running.
- Collected from visitors: the choice made, when, on which version of the banner, and under which regional rule.
- Out to the Analytics Engine: the permission level for each session, applied at collection rather than afterwards.
- Out to advertising integrations: whether any signal may be sent for this visitor at all.

Setting it up
Four steps, in this order.
- 01Run the tracker scan and review what it found on the live site.
- 02Choose your categories and regional rules, and set what happens before a visitor has chosen anything.
- 03Style the banner and preference centre to match the site, and link them from your cookie policy.
- 04Publish, then re-scan periodically — new tools added later bring new trackers with them.
Permissions
The Consent Engine writes only the consent record and the preferences a visitor sets. It does not read personal data, and records stay in your workspace. Siteleon does not make legal decisions for you — the categories, the regional rules and the wording are yours to set, and your own advice should confirm them.
Where it stops
Siteleon gives you the mechanism, not compliance. No configuration is automatically GDPR compliant, and nothing here is legal advice — your obligations depend on your business, your jurisdiction and your processors. Discovery finds trackers on pages Siteleon can reach, so scripts that run only for logged-in users or on third-party subdomains may be missed. Enforcement covers Siteleon's own measurement and the integrations it manages; a tag you add yourself outside Siteleon remains yours to control.
